My Dentistrys Finished? Already? I Cant Believe It!
Not long ago, I restored a woman who had many severely decayed teeth throughout her mouth. She had avoided the dentist for many years out of sheer terror. She really wanted to save her teeth so it was urgent to do the work before things got worse. In situations such as this, sedation with a sleeping pill is enormously helpful.
My patient took her pill an hour before her first visit and her family drove her to the office. During the next 7 hours, I worked on every tooth in her mouth, doing root canals, gum surgery, crowns, and bridges. It was a lot of work, but when the temporaries were finished, she looked sensational.
I have seen many incredible transformations and it is always exciting. But what is even more incredible is that this patient—and others like her—all say something very similar. Even after spending all day doing extensive work on her whole mouth, she had no recollection of the passage of time. She felt as though she had just arrived. When I told her that we were finished, she could hardly believe it.
What a feeling to be able to solve so many dental problems in one day with the help of a little blue pill. It was exciting for me to be sure—but even more so for an extremely fearful patient who is no longer afraid of the dentist.
